Chicken Intelligence?

I don't have any experience with Chickens besides one. I went out to a friends house and I seen he had a chicken. I thought it was cute and the guy told me her name was Maggie.. I was like "come here chicken! Chicky chicky chicky.." The chicken didn't even look at me. Completely ignored me. I then proceeded to say it's name. Soon as I said it's name it stopped and looked at me. I was completely shocked. I had no idea that chickens could be named and come to a name. The guy said Maggie rides on his shoulder as he mows the lawn and a whole bunch of other things that I would expect from a pet dog.
